The Mission in BRAZIL

Over the past three years now, Rick Bonfim has become a family friend of ours.  My oldest sister Michelle went to Brazil in August of 2008 and has gone back three more times.  My dad, Robert, with the persistant persuasion of Michelle, ended up going in March of 2009.  During this mission trip with the Lord's people, my dad finally was born again and filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of sixty six!  Rick has a number of trips to Brazil and to Jerusalem each year.  My mother, Denise, went to Jerusalem in November of 2009.  Allison and I went to Brazil in the summer of 2010 and we were interns in June 2010.  Allison is planning to be an intern for an entire yearin June 2012!  Please help support her! (See below the pictures)

Rick came over to the United States in his teenage years and graduated from Valdosta State University.  He then went to Emory University and earned a Master of Arts in Divinity.  Later, at the University of Georgia, he received a Master of Arts in Speech Communication and one in Journalism as well.

Rick Bonfim Ministries is a member of ECFA. (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability).  He has been with the Methodist Church for over thirty years and has recorded Christian cds as well.

MR. BURNETTE'S TRIP TO BRAZIL
MARCH 2009
This is the front of Rick Bonfim's mission property!

This room is where they met for Bible study each morning and these are the cloths they brought to take into the mountains for the poor.

This is looking out of the wide window from the picture above.

This is looking down from the wide window.  These steps lead to the lower building which has two bedrooms on the top floor with a couple bathrooms and the bottom of that building is the church.

This is the church at Rick Bonfim's mission.

The middle of the hike through the mountains to give cloths to the poor.

This is one of the houses in the mountains with a mother and two children.

We do not know what its like to live as some of these people do.

Children hanging out in the streets.
This is one of the seven or eight churches they visited in Brazil.

People literally walk up the mountain to get to their brick houses.
In the center of the picture, there is a wooden door with a gap (looks black) and then brick.  To the right of that is the cement divider and then the other half of the wall which is brick.  Then to the right are the stairs to the top of that "piece of property"

The team with my dad took out the cement wall that divided the two.
The space behind the cement wall was dirt!

The dirt was dug out!

The trash was taken out and...

now you have more room!
The next team that came for the next two weeks continued to work on providing a better place to live for our cook, Lourdes.

Lourdes is on the left and Claudio is on the right!

God's people praying!
Rick and Betty leading worship!

My dad was able to give his testimony and Rick interpreted.

STEPHEN AND ALLISONS TRIP TO BRAZIL
JUNE 2010

One of the grocery stores on a corner of the street.

A shop on the corner of the road.

Tyler, Allison and I dressed up for our first church service!

Christ Redeemer!

The Copacabana Palace

My surprise 25th birthday!

There is work to be done around the mission house as well!

Lourdes is in the back, following us up to her new home.
My dad and his team started to work on the property in March the year before.

The center dividing wall was taken out and where the door originally was is where the window is now.

This new door is on the right side of the property by these stairs.
(The pictures of my dads trip have this place while in non livable conditions)

Now Lourdes has a small place to call her own!

The only thing you dont see is the shower to the right and behind the small fridge, as well as a four foot wide by eight foot long room to the right.

This is a childrens shelter up in the hills of Niteroi.

Houses in the hills of Niteroi, Brazil

Allison with a few of the guys that live a half mile up into the hills.  The higher you go the cheaper places are because you have to walk so far to get to the places you need to go.

This is one of the women in the hills that we were able to pray for and support financially.
For more information about supporting the Rick Bonfim ministries which helps build houses and feed the poor people go to his website.

Mudslides are a cause of houses being destroyed.

This is our bus that we travel to different churches in.
On the way we are likely to pray in the Spirit,
on the way back, we are likely to praise God for how He just ministered
and delievered people from sin that was keeping them in bondage.

Here is one of the pictures after another great church service.

At the end of the trip, there is feet washing and prayer for everyone!

Allison was touched by the power of God throughout this trip and He truly transformed her life.

I am blessed to have partaken in the ministry of the Lord with those who have attended Rick Bonfims ministries with him.  Allison is fundraising for her internship in June of 2012.
I believe, depending on if she has a roomate, she will need between 500-900 dollars a month.
Any amount of monthy money, or one time donations would be greatfully appreciated.

Your gift is tax deductible.

Please write a check to Rick Bonfim Ministries and sent it to

"But just as you excel in everything....see that you also excel in this grace of giving."
2 Corinthians 8:7

Please send us out!  For we are here, willing to go to the nations.
I also would like to fulfil the scripture David spoke in Psalm 108 that says,
"I will praise you, O Lord, among the people:
AND
I will sing praises unto you AMONG THE NATIONS!

Hallelujah, Praise Jehovah!
